Wi-Fi

If you requested Wi-Fi access when registering for the conference, you will receive an automatic email (in Italian and English) with your credentials (username and password) to log into the Wi-Fi network of the University of Milano-Bicocca.

To be able to connect to the Wi-Fi network, your equipment must be compliant with the following protocols and standards:

  • IEEE 802.11.ac or 802.11n or 802.11g
  • IEEE 802.11i
  • IEEE 802.1X with EAP-TLS and WPA2/AES-CCMP (Enterprise)

For wired authentication (Ethernet) only: IEEE 802.3 and 802.1X with EAP-TLS.

For Windows based machines you must ensure that you are running either Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Connect to Eduroam

The University of Milano-Bicocca is a member of Eduroam, allowing inter-university Wi-Fi roaming to anyone registered with Eduroam institutions.

Users from Eduroam institutions can connect to the eduroam network SSID with the credentials provided by their home institution to access the service.

As a technical prerequisite to access the eduroam network, your machine should support 802.1X authentication with WPA2 / AES cryptography.

Connect to Wi-Fi on Android

Access to the Wi-Fi network of the University of Milano-Bicocca requires:

  • a device with an up to date Android OS;
  • a wireless card/adapter with 802.11 b/g/n/ac support, making sure that an up-to-date driver is installed;
  • a wireless network coverage with SSID unimib, eduroam, or UnimibGuest (for guest accounts)

Android Version 10 or earlier

In the Wireless and Networks section of the Settings, activate the Wi-Fi connection by clicking the “On” button as shown in the following figure. The device will automatically search for available Wi-Fi networks.

On the next screen, select the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect to: unimib, eduroam, or UnimibGuest (for guest accounts) and click the “Connect to network” button.

In the next window, enter the configuration parameters. Under EAP method, select PEAP.

Follow the following figures to complete the configuration, filling in, if present, also the Anonymous identity field with your credentials (i.e. the complete university email address). For eduroam enter the credentials issued by your home institution.

By clicking the “Save” button, the Wi-Fi connection will be properly configured.

Android Version 11 or subsequent

In the Networks section of the Settings, activate the Wi-Fi connection by clicking the “On” button as shown in the following figure.

Select the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect to: unimib, eduroam, or UnimibGuest (for guest accounts).

Follow the following figures to complete the configuration, filling in, if present, also the Anonymous identity field with your credentials (i.e. the complete university email address). For eduroam enter the credentials issued by your home institution.

Click the “Connect” button, scrolling down the configuration screen.

Connect to Wi-Fi on Apple iOS

Access to the Wi-Fi network of the University of Milano-Bicocca requires:

  • a device with an up-to-date Apple iOS
  • a wireless card/adapter with 802.11 b/g/n/ac support, making sure that an up-to-date driver is installed
  • a wireless network coverage with SSID unimib, eduroam, or UnimibGuest (for guest accounts)

In the Wi-Fi section of the Settings, activate the Wi-Fi connection by clicking on the right button as shown in the following figure. The device will automatically search for available Wi-Fi networks.

On the next screen, select the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect to: unimib, eduroam, or UnimibGuest (for guest accounts). For eduroam enter the credentials issued by your home institution.

By clicking the “Connect” button, the Wi-Fi connection will be properly configured.
