Sustainability
ESRA is committed to making its conferences more socially and environmentally responsible. For ESRA 2025 in Utrecht, several initiatives have been introduced to support sustainability:
- Travel and Stay Grants for Young Scholars: Continuing our tradition of supporting equitable participation, ESRA has awarded 15 Travel and Stay Grants, prioritizing applicants from developing economies.
- Cycle-Friendly Conference: Utrecht is a cycling city, and we encourage participants to embrace this eco-friendly mode of transport. Whether you’re arriving by bike or exploring the city on two wheels, we invite you to share your sustainable travel choices using #ESRA25Sustainable on our LinkedIn, Bluesky, or X channels. If you are still looking for a rental bike in Utrecht, see here for an overview.
- Reusable Cups: In an effort to reduce waste, only reusable cups will be used throughout the conference. Please help us by returning your cup after use—don’t throw it away!
- Vegetarian Catering: All food served at the conference venue, the opening ceremony, and the conference dinner will be vegetarian, reducing the event’s environmental footprint while offering delicious, inclusive options.
Together, we can take small but meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future for survey research conferences.
