Meet the local ESRA Committee
A Day in the Life of Katharina Meitinger
Hi, I am Katharina Meitinger and work as an assistant professor at the Methods & Statistics Department. Today, I start my day on the international campus (University College Utrecht).
On my way to the campus, I am passing by the Rietveld Schröder House, a Unesco World Heritage architectural gem. It’s a 15 minutes walk from the conference location (reservation required to visit).
At the moment, I am teaching an intensive course on multivariate statistics where students learn (nearly) everything about regression analysis and analysis of variances.
After teaching for a couple of hours, I am walking to the Methods & Statistics department for a meeting of the NWO funded project “Regional validity of survey questions on attitudes towards homosexuality in Europe: combining web probing with small area estimation” with Angelo Moretti and our Erasmus+ Intern Christina Claussen. Although the project officially ended, we still have a lot of data to analyze. Interested in this project? We will present our findings at ESRA.
After a long day of teaching, there is nothing better than a nice walk in nature. What is even better is to have a great culinary destination to walk to. There are two great option next to the campus: Restaurant De Veldkeuken and Theehuis Rhijnauwen. Both are roughly a 30 minutes walk from the conference location. De Veldkeuken has an amazing bakery (including sourdough bread) and a restaurant with a sun terrace. For a little snack, I recommend the Kaastengels at the bakery but the restaurant also has really delicious cakes. The second option, Theehuis Rhijnauwen, is a perfect place to try typically Dutch pannenkoeken (pancakes, both savory or sweet). Since the Veldkeuken also has fantastic Borrel options, I am heading there to meet friends today.
